History of the MCSAA
In 1973 the English Schools Athletic Association decided to reorganise their Championships along the lines of the new metropolitan counties which were to be introduced by the Government. This change also coincided with a change from Major and Minor Counties to three groups: A, B & C. The size of the teams for Track & Field to be 70 athletes for A counties, 40 athletes for B Counties and 30 athletes for C Counties. The size of Cross Country and Race Walking teams to be the same for all Counties....
What we do
For more than 40 years we have been organising the Schools cross country league and the schools track and field championship.
We are responsible for selecting the Merseyside teams for English Schools competition.
The English School Championships in Ponterfract saw the Merseyside Team have two athletes selected for England - Will Delamere, Junior Boys and Holly Cross, Inter Girls. Both will be competing in Belfast.
The weather was bright for the English Schools but the course was still very muddy.
All of our teams ran very well with all runners finishing, with feedback that they enjoyed the competition.
Holly and Will represent England
Following their performances at the English School Championships Holly (6th) and Will (8th). Both were selected to represent England in Belfast at the SIAB.
Holly finished 6th overall, 5th for England.
Will finished 7th overall, 4th for England.
